Munkajarra Wetlands

Discover the scenic Munkajarra Wetlands near Derby, just a short drive from the main highway. This picturesque destination is home to diverse birdlife and stunning landscapes. Upon arrival, you'll find a clearly marked entrance gate that must be kept closed. Follow the newly graded track for approximately two kilometers to another gate. The wetlands, which retain water year-round and are prone to flooding in the wet season, attract a wide variety of bird species. Keep your eyes peeled for Sacred and Red-backed Kingfishers, as well as Blue-winged Kookaburras, perched in the boab trees along the way.
